transportaba el mineral.<br \/><br \/>A trav\u00e9s de los vestigios y los edificios e instalaciones que a\u00fan se conservan en el lugar te contaremos la interesante historia de estos\u00a0<strong>antiguos piques mineros<\/strong>\u00a0en los que se explota el mineral desde la\u00a0<strong>\u00e9poca Inca<\/strong>.\u00a0<br \/><br \/>Los primeros datos escritos datan de principios del s.XVII cuando la explotaci\u00f3n era parte de una\u00a0<strong>Real encomienda<\/strong>\u00a0a cargo del espa\u00f1ol Don Ignacio de la Carrera e Iturgoyen y el mineral era extra\u00eddo con picotas por los indios.<br \/><br \/>Las minas siguieron siendo explotadas en el s.XIX por peque\u00f1os propietarios de \u00abpiques mineros\u00bb. Debido al gran potencial de cantidad y calidad de mineral, la compa\u00f1\u00eda francesa \u00ab<strong>Societ\u00e9 des Mines de Cuivre<\/strong>\u00bb decidi\u00f3 establecerse en Naltahua en la primera d\u00e9cada del s.XX y desde entonces continu\u00f3 con la actividad durante 50 a\u00f1os llegando a convertirse en la primera fundici\u00f3n del pa\u00eds y a emplear a m\u00e1s de 4000
