Wine Routes Near Santiago de Chile
Maipo Valley Enotourism Heritage Network project
Was designed to create tourist experiences representative of the winegrowing character of the Santiago Metropolitan Region, starting with the communes that are not associated with wine culture routes, such as Paine, Alhue and Santiago.
New wine routes near Santiago de Chile aimed at enriching the visitor’s experience.
They integrate beneficiaries with local roots who provide services that complement the visit to a vineyard: restaurants, museums, nature sanctuaries and local guides and muleteers who offer hiking, horseback riding or bike tours through the vineyards.
Santiago de Chile’s wine routes have been designed to meet the expectations of different types of wine, food and nature lovers. Domestic tourists from Santiago and Chile and foreigners: adventurers, generation x, seniors, business and premium.
Of the five wine routes designed so far to create new wine routes near Santiago de Chile, two are located in Paine and complement tours and wine tastings at the Perez Cruz, Antiyal and Santa Rita wineries with activities such as horseback riding, trekking or visits to native plant nurseries and lunches based on the native and traditional gastronomy of the area.
Two other wine routes are centered in Alhue, where the tour and wine tasting at the Chocalán winery is combined with walks and horseback rides through the Cajón de Pichi, one of the most pristine areas of the Cantillana Range, site No. 1 for the conservation of biodiversity in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago. You can also visit its interesting museum, where you can learn about the rich history of the place, full of anecdotes, myths and legends, such as the one that says that the devil was born there and that witches roam around.

Finally, another of the routes takes place in the Capital City, so it is not even necessary to leave Santiago de Chile to enjoy it. It runs through the neighborhoods of Yungay, Bellavista and Lastarria and includes icons of wine tourism in Chile such as the Bocanáriz restaurant, the wine store and gourmet products emporium Santiago Wine Club, the Espacio Gárgola, located in a beautiful historic building in Yungay, the cradle of Chilean wine. Also, as could not be missing in this route, we will visit La Chascona, House Museum of the Nobel Prize winner Pablo Neruda, poet and great lover of Chilean wine, gastronomy and culture.
This project has been supported by Corfo Metropolitano and has counted with the participation of Maipo Travel – Maipo Valley Wine Tours -, which has contributed decisively to the design and development of the project in the phases of field visits for the location and selection of beneficiaries and in the organization of the work tables. The project was always under the direction of the consulting firm that executed the project, Remade in Chile.
The routes are not yet automatically marketed as standard and are therefore subject to availability and coordination.
