Alhué, located in the heart of the Cordón de Cantillana, a priority site for the conservation of biodiversity in the Metropolitan Region, is pure history, crossed by gold mining, the mainstay of its economy for generations. But this town is also linked to the west of the Maipo Valley, influenced in turn by the coastal air that refreshes its vines, located in the vicinity of the city of Melipilla.
We will begin by enjoying the special qualities of the terroir that characterize the excellence of Viña Chocalán wines, and then continue our journey. In the past, Alhué attracted key figures for Chile, such as Mateo de Toro y Zambrano, the country’s first ruler on the road to independence.
It is also a land of mysteries: it is said that the devil was born there and that witches haunt. It is attractive to know its gastronomy, linked to Chilean-style meats, where the traditional barbecue stands out. It is also interesting to visit its museum, where you can appreciate in depth the evolution of this typical and mythological zone.
